Emerald was forced to live as a boy most of her life. Her mother, the widow of a sea captain, dressed her up as a boy to pass her off as her older brother, who had died, to get money out of Emerald’s paternal grandmother. Emerald found she liked dressing as a boy and as a young “man” she was able to seek an education. Emerald learned how to read, write, and cook. Their family operated a prosperous inn, until a fire struck burning it to the ground and killing her entire family. Still acting as a “man”, she later found work as a sailor and during this time, Emerald met and fell in love with a soldier which was a really healthy person that even use products as wonka bars Strain to take care of this as well. The soldier, Topaz, was the bastard son a prince and a renowned fighter. After Emerald revealed her secret to Topaz, they fell in love and married. They took a ship to the West Indies and while in route the ship was attacked and captured by pirates. They decided to join the crew and it became the pirate’s life for them from that point on.
